Going out shopping in Bolton isn’t as easy as popping into a car or hopping on a bus these days for Amanda Watson, especially now she’s got five month old Luci to think about.

With the extra luggage she has to take with her for her daughter, Amanda says using the car is the easiest option.

“I don’t tend to use the bus, especially taking the trolley. They do have low loaders, but they can only fit so many trolleys onto the bus, so I tend to use the car. It’s easier for us, although it does take a little longer now.”

Amanda admits that now she has a child, she understands the concerns parents have and problems they face. “I’m a much more careful driver now and I’ve come to experience things that people don’t think about. For example, Bolton doesn’t have parent and children parking spaces and the normal spaces aren’t wide enough. I also have to make sure that the car I’m in is big enough to fit the pram in!”

Amanda also has concerns for the future.

“I think about the future when Luci’s older, when she’s playing out around cars because we live near a main road and the effect pollution can have on her, although I tend not to think about that too much, otherwise I’ll worry myself to death.”
